Review - Riding the Odds by Lynda K. Scott

Title: Rising the Odds
Author: Lynda K. Scott
Pages: 275
Publisher: Entangled: Select Otherworld
Release date: 2nd February 2015

Blurb from Goodreads:

An act of desperation and the beginning of seduction...

Spaceship captain Tara Rowan has her secrets. One is her Rider, Zie—an organic symbiote, like a living tattoo—that enhances Tara's physical abilities. But Zie is no ordinary Rider, and Tara can never risk anyone discovering Zie's true origins. Especially not the sexily dangerous stranger who appears out of nowhere and makes Tara's pulse race...Except that "Trace Munroe" isn't exactly who he says he is. He's in fact a Holy Knight, who does everything by the book, and Tara is his only lead in tracking down a kidnapped princess. And Trace will do whatever it takes to get that information—including blackmail. But a blazing attraction to Tara is definitely complicating things...especially when Trace realizes that following his code of honor means destroying the woman he's falling for.

My Review:

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley*

 3/5 stars

Tara Rowan, captain of her own spaceship, has a Rider called Zie - an organic symbiote that looks like a tattoo and enhances Tara's body - and secrets including her real identity.
Trace Munroe is a Holy Knight on a mission to track down the missing princess, his adopted sister.
Trace intends to use Tara's past to his advantage but he can't ignore the growing attraction between them.

Riding the Odds was an intriguing read.
The idea of Riders was interesting but I would have liked to have had more back story about them. More information and detail about the spaceports and worlds mentioned would have been good.
Tara was likeable as was Trace but Zie was my favourite part of the book - she was funny and sweet.
The plot was good overall but I did lose interest in some places.
I liked the writing style and found it easy to follow.
The romance was done quite well and didn't seem too rushed.

Overall Riding the Odds was an intriguing read set in a world that I would like to read more about.
