10 Tips for Becoming a Better Writer

1 -      First off, make friends with writers online, we have great circles and connections with authors, formatters, book cover designers, editors, and many more. Not only are these people amazing friends, but we have each other’s back.

2 -      There are a lot of sites you need to be familiar with, draft to digital, smash words, kindle Kdp, Create space etc…. check them out prior to publishing.

3 -      Don’t be scared to read reviews, don’t get disheartened by bad ones, pick up the tips they have to say, and then work on your craft to perfect it.

4 -      Research book covers, the top 100 bestselling in your genre, see what makes them stand out, and why…

5 -      Read the top selling books in the genre you’re considering writing, what do they do that works? And can you do it better?

6 -      The first pages of your book need to grab the reader, and pull them in, making them want to read on.

7 -      Work on your characters, make them strong. Make them believable and lovable, if they have flaws, explain why, give them a reason, and don’t just make them bad.

8 -      Look up blog tour hosts… bloggers and tour hosts are vital, they are golden.

9 -      Draft, draft and draft more…. Make sure your book is perfect before hitting publish.

10 -    The last point I want to make is, love what you do, because if you don’t, it won’t work, you can’t force writing, let it happen, let it flow; take time off if you need it.
