Synopsis via Goodreads:

Olympic rings and an engagement ring.

Courtney Carlton is ready for both.

She and her boyfriend Josh have skated together and dated for four years, and they’ve reached a critical point in their partnership both on and off the ice. With the Winter Games coming up and their career nearing an end, they are fighting to win a spot on the Olympic team, something Courtney has dreamed of since she was ten years old.

She also has another wish she hopes comes true soon. She’s waiting for a marriage proposal from Josh that she expected to happen by now. Will she realize either dream or will her heart be broken from disappointment?

When did you start writing?

I used to write a lot when I was a kid, but I stopped for many years and didn’t start again until about six years ago. I had an idea for a story, and one of my friends insisted I write it so she could read it. It was supposed to be just a fun thing to share with friends. I never imagined it would lead to a writing career!

What makes you want to write?

I have these stories in my head that need to get out! :) There aren’t a lot of skating romances out there, so I wanted to add to the genre and be able to use my passion for the sport in a creative way.

Do you ever get writer's block and what do you do to get over it?

I do get writer’s block, usually in the plotting phase. I find it helps to talk over ideas with friends, no matter how silly some of the ideas may be. Just throw everything out there to get the creative juices flowing.

Do you have any works in progress?

I just started plotting my next book, which will be another skating romance. This one will be focused on Liza, one of the secondary characters in Taking the Ice.

What are your hobbies?

Writing is my biggest hobby! I have a full-time job as a tax accountant, so I spend a lot of my free time writing. I’m also a huge figure skating fan, so I like to travel to competitions and shows with friends.

How did you choose the character names for Taking the Ice?

Since it’s part of a series, I had almost all the names already in place. For the minor characters, I like to use names of friends.
Who is your favorite character in Taking the Ice? My favorite character in Taking the Ice is Josh. He’s the dream boyfriend – sweet, smart, gorgeous, and both musically and athletically talented. I love how much he adores Courtney.

How did you get the idea for Taking the Ice?

Once Courtney and Josh paired up, I wanted to see their journey through to the end of their skating career and also to show how they’ve grown as a couple. I hope readers will find this to be a satisfying conclusion to their story!

What was your favorite part of writing Taking the Ice?

My favorite part was writing one of the pivotal skating scenes at the national championships. The stakes are so high and Courtney is battling so many emotions. I hope it will keep readers on the edge of their seat!

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Something Real by Heather Demetrios.

What is your favorite book?

To Kill a Mockingbird.

Who is your favorite author?

I have a few, but one is Rainbow Rowell.

What is your favorite film?

I have so many! A few are Perks of Being a Wallflower, Center Stage, The Notebook.

What is your favorite TV show?

I have quite a few of those, too! My favorite of all time is Friday Night Lights, but I currently enjoy Chicago Fire, Big Bang Theory, So You Think You Can Dance, Homeland, Pretty Little Liars, among others!

Quick-fire questions:

Chocolate or ice cream? Chocolate.
Paperback or ebook? I’ve become more of an ebook fan recently!
Dogs or cats? Cats.
Go out or stay in? Stay in
Summer or winter? Winter. I’m so over the heat already!

Jennifer Comeaux is a tax accountant by day, writer by night. There aren’t any ice rinks near her home in south Louisiana, but she’s a die-hard figure skating fan and loves to write stories of romance set in the world of competitive skating.
