Dear reader,

I know you will love this story, because I can already tell that you love stories with heart and magic. Just by picking up a story, I know that you have that special something. This story is for dreamers, and no one dreams quite like a reader. If you want to escape into a world of magic, mystery, and romance, then I know you will love a trip to Bohemia.

All I ask as you embark on this trip to Prague is that you keep an open mind. Some of these characters have endured more than you could imagine, and while some of them may across as cruel or demanding, remember that they do it out of love. One of these characters, in fact, refused to be a flat villain. He spoke to me while I was writing, demanding a better story than I was initially willing to give. He was relentless.

I hope you love this story and all of the characters. They spoke to me in ways that I had never experienced before. Bohemia may not be real (at least not yet) but it will feel real once you open the pages of this book.

Five Films I Enjoyed More Than I Thought I Would

I LOVE going to the cinema and watching new films.

Sometimes they disappoint me, but there have been a lot of films I've enjoyed more than I expected.

Here are five that I enjoyed more than I thought I would . . .

1. Begin Again (2013)

Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo are among my favourite actors so I was excited to watch Begin Again.

This is such a feel-good film and I loved the music in it (which Keira Knightley actually sings!) so much that I bought the CD.

2. Easy A (2010)

 

This is one of my favourite films.

Emma Stone is brilliant as Olive, as is Stanley Tucci as Olive's dad.

Easy A is funny, entertaining and relatable.

3. Edge of Tomorrow/Live. Die. Repeat (2014)

 

 I am a huge Emily Blunt fan and I love sci-fi, so I was pretty much expecting to love Edge of Tomorrow.

Tom Cruise surprised me in this. I thought he was really good.

The plot was interesting and the action was good.

4. Hunt For The Wilderpeople (2016)

 

 Hunt For The Wilderpeople was written and directed by Taika Waititi (the guy that directed Thor Ragnarok).

It's a simple film, but it's funny and I love the characters.

Some people might not get the Kiwi humour (I know it took me a while to get into Flight of the Conchords), but I always recommend this film to my friends as well as Taika's other films.

5. Brooklyn (2015)

 I totally wasn't expecting to love Brooklyn as much as I did, but this was such a nice film.

I loved the characters and the story.

I need to read the book!

Jules lives in the land of Sempera where the rich control time by turning blood into coins.

To stop her frail father from giving any more of his blood to pay their debts, Jules takes a job at Everless, an estate belonging to the Gerling family. Jules used to live at Everless with her father until an event led to them having to leave.

Jules's childhood friend and crush, Roan Gerling, is to marry the heir to the throne, but with the queen's arrival comes danger.

Why does Jules's father want her to stay away from the queen?

What secrets has he been keeping from her?

There's a lot of hype concerning Everless, so going into it I was worried that I wouldn't like the book as much as everyone else (which is usually what happens), but this time I wasn't disappointed!

The concept of turning blood into coins that you can melt in a drink was really interesting. I liked the stories of the Sorceress and the Alchemist.

Jules was a good protagonist, but there were times where I questioned what she was doing or things she said. However, given certain events that happened, it's understandable that Jules wouldn't be thinking straight at times.

There were several characters that I liked and I wanted to find out more about them.

The plot was very interesting. There was action and lots of twists that I didn't see coming.

The writing style made Everless very easy to read and follow.

I'm intrigued to see what happens in the next book.

Overall this was an enjoyable read.

Claire Luana grew up reading everything she could get her hands on and writing every chance she could. Eventually, adulthood won out, and she turned her writing talents to more scholarly pursuits, going to work as a commercial litigation attorney at a mid-sized law firm. While continuing to practice law, Claire decided to return to her roots and try her hand once again at creative writing. She has written and published the Moonburner Cycle and is currently working on a new trilogy about magical food. She lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband and two dogs.
