Tia and Will’s lives get flipped upside down when they’re voted Yearbook’s Biggest Flirts in this sassy novel from the author of Endless Summer and The One That I Want.

Tia just wants to have fun. She’s worked hard to earn her reputation as the life of the party, and she’s ready for a carefree senior year of hanging out with friends and hooking up with cute boys. And her first order of business? New guy Will. She can’t get enough of his Midwestern accent and laid-back swagger.

As the sparks start to fly, Will wants to get serious. Tia’s seen how caring too much has left her sisters heartbroken, and she isn’t interested in commitment. But pushing Will away drives him into the arms of another girl. Tia tells herself it’s no big deal…until the yearbook elections are announced. Getting voted Biggest Flirts with Will is, well, awkward. They may just be friends, but their chemistry is beginning to jeopardize Will’s new relationship—and causing Tia to reconsider her true feelings.  Fave Quotes:

1) “I’m sorry too. We’ve insulted each other a lot for two people who hardly know each other.”

2) For my part, I wasn’t jealous, only disappointed that he had such poor taste in women besides me.

3) I didn’t envy Angelica if dating Will meant acting like they were already in the nursing home.

4) Only I understood him, and in some small way, in a tiny warped corner of my mind, that made him mine.

5) “...Why can’t I be an underachiever? This is America. I can be anything I want.”

6) “This is the Home of the Pelicans,” he reminded me. “Shooting the bird is a sign of solidarity.”

Fave Quotes:

1)   "She didn’t know how broken I was on the inside, that I couldn’t have let her in even if I’d wanted to, because the part of me that had once loves was now gone."

2)      "I didn’t even know who I was anymore, and it hurt to feel myself changing."

3)      "I felt like I was dying. Or maybe like I would never finish dying. Like I would be stuck in this pain forever."

4)      "There was something about him that seemed trustworthy. It felt like it had been so long since I’d had someone to trust."

5)      "... I was such a volcano of conflicting feelings myself, always feeling so near eruption I barely wanted to move."

6)      "In some ways it was like Kolby and I were both nursing the same infection, only mine was on the inside. We were both healing, but not without the scars to remind us that the cut, deep and painful, had been there."

3/5 stars

Jersey Cameron’s life comes crashing down when her mother and sister die in a freak storm.
With her house ruined and her stepfather unable to care for himself let alone Jersey, she is sent to live with her biological father.
Struggling with grief and a family that doesn’t want her, Jersey learns that her mother wasn’t as perfect as she believed.

This was a very emotional and heart wrenching book.
I really felt for Jersey as she lost everything only to be forced to live with people that didn’t want her there.
Jersey’s grief felt real and made me appreciate how lucky I am that I’ve not lost anyone close to me.
With characters that were likeable and some that I hated, this was a well-written and enjoyable read that I would recommend.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kimberly Loth can’t decide where she wants to settle down. She’s lived in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Utah, California, Oregon, and South Carolina. She finally decided to make the leap and leave the U.S. behind for a few years. Currently, she lives in Cairo, Egypt with her husband and two kids.

She is a high school math teacher by day (please don’t hold that against her) and YA author by night. She loves romantic movies, chocolate, roses, and crazy adventures. Kissed is her first novel.

Fave Quotes:

1)      "The kiss lasted only seconds but was soft and deliberate, leaving me longing for more."

2)      "My hands bear many scars from thorns. But they are worth the pain, for from pain comes beauty."

3)      "“You are only saying that because you love me right now, you won’t be so understanding tomorrow. Try not to throw anything sharp at me when I come to get you.”"

4)      "Surfing was not my thing. I swallowed enough salt water to make a jellyfish happy."

5)      "When I woke up the next morning I didn’t feel like I wanted to drown Puck in the pool so I figured I was getting over my anger."

6)      "“For future reference if you want to keep someone from suspecting anything unusual use mint and Michael Jackson. That seems to the best combination. I don’t know why.”"

7)      “There is no way she can make a decision that big with hair like that.”

3/5 stars

Naomi Aren’s parents are part of a dark cult. They control her life and abuse her. The only joy in Naomi’s life is her greenhouse of roses. One day her father tells Naomi that she will be marrying Dwayne, a young man who is cruel and also part of the cult. Naomi thinks that her life is over until she meets Kai who shares her love for roses and kisses her during the night. Kai awakens the need to be free in Naomi and she must try and find a way to escape from her parents and her impending unwanted marriage.

The positive points – This was a unique read with an interesting plot and characters. Naomi was relatable and I enjoyed reading as she grew and developed as a character. There was a big twist that I didn’t see coming and the ending leaves you wanting more.

The negative points – I was slightly disappointed when I realised there was a love triangle and it was obvious (to me at least) who Naomi would go with at the end. I also wasn’t a fan of the whole Guardians getting their energy from kisses thing. Call me strange but a guy coming into your room at night to kiss you is just creepy.

Overall this was an enjoyable and unique read that I would recommend.
