BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Two Wars, One Destiny.
Seventeen-year-old Edyn Vella always knew that her strange dreams of the future made her unique, but she never knew what they meant. However, when she fails to stop her aunt's murder by an ominous vampiric creature, Edyn learns that her prophetic visions aren't the only superhuman ability she possesses.

Following her late aunt's clues, Edyn finds herself in New York City attempting to save her last surviving relative, the powerful and reclusive billionaire, Ethan Roux. Edyn not only discovers Ethan isn't exactly human, but that she is at the center of an ancient prophecy and could determine the outcome of an impending war.

As Ethan's Omega, his only human descendant, she's thrust into an enigmatic world full of new supernatural creatures where both good and evil vampires and warlocks have waged a centuries-long battle for the fate of humanity. Just as her relationship with the mysterious and handsome Brendan begins to blossom, Edyn's complicated new life quickly spirals out of control when ancient evil becomes determined on making her one of them. Edyn must discover her inner strength while making the choice between a long life without love and a potentially short life full of it.

The Bellum Prophecy is a dark, suspenseful new novel that explores the loss of innocence while coming of age in the midst of a battle between good and evil. Combining the best elements of vampire legend, the supernatural, and even magic, L. Marie Horton uses exciting action and a cutting-edge story to craft a refreshing new take on young adult fiction.

Marie is also a photographer, avid speed-reader, and an obsessive fan of movie soundtracks. She has a supportive husband and two fur children, Scottie a.k.a. Daba D and Gunnar a.k.a. da Gun Gun’s.
L. Marie writes YA paranormal romance and fantasy fiction focusing on strong characters trying to overcome extraordinary obstacles in their life. Writing is an extreme passion of hers and she relishes in sharing that passion with her readers.

When did you start writing?

I can’t remember when I began writing, but when I was about thirteen, I was fascinated by the TV show "Sea Quest" and would write my own episodes. After that I became obsessed with writing TV show and movie scripts. The idea of sitting down and writing a book really didn’t hit me until after I graduated from law school and was going some of my old writings. I had tons of ideas for movies, so I just decided to take those ideas, combine some of them and start writing books. I still have some movie scripts that I would love to see become movies though.
What makes you want to write?

My brain. One day the “just keep writing” switch turned on and has been stuck ever since! It’s also my stress release so I have to write for preservation of my sanity.
Do you have a special way of going about writing?
Music, music and lots of music. I’m extremely visual so when I hear music, images come flooding into my mind and I just start writing down what I see. It’s like having the reverse of a music composer's mind. A composer sees action and makes music, whereas I hear music and see the action in my mind.
Do you ever get writer's block and what do you do to get over it?
Not really. Writing for me is tied to music, so if I am having trouble with a scene or chapter, I just buy some new music.
What are your hobbies?
I am a do-it-yourself fanatic! I have redone my kitchen, all of my closets and I love refurnishing old furniture. I also hang out with my fabulous four-year niece, Cass as much as possible. Every week I see her, she’s obsessed with something new. This week it’s singing, “Let it Go” over and over again.
How did you choose the character names for The Bellum Prophecy?
Some of the names like Kieran, Ethan and Logan, I have always loved. The rest came from endless searching of baby name lists. There are a lot of baby name websites with unlimited possibilities for character names. I found Edyn’s last name in a random origins of surnames website. Vella means, “war” so I thought that was appropriate for a story about a war prophecy. Character names are always an interesting part of the story writing process. It’s such a big moment when I find the perfect name for a character and a mini “I’m awesome” dance quickly ensues.
Do you have any works in progress?

Way too many! I do have a first draft of the second book in the Vella Series done, and I am concurrently working on an amazing YA fantasy and an adult probate thriller.
Who is your favorite character in The Bellum Prophecy?
That is like asking to pick my favorite child! I absolutely love Terrin, but Edyn’s unpredictable and wild nature is a trait I wish I had.
Where did you get the idea for The Bellum Prophecy?
It’s a mix of three different movie Ideas I had for a while. I then added some ideas that I thought were missing from the mainstream YA paranormal romance and fantasy series.
What are you currently reading?
I plan on reading “Dead Girl Walking” soon and “Cruel Beauty” sometime in May.
What is your favorite book?
I have two that I re-read every year: "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larsen and "Sing the Four Quarters" by Tanya Huff.
Who is your favorite author?
That is a really tough question! Overall, I would have to say Jane Austen.
Quick-fire questions:
Chocolate or ice cream? Today it’s ice cream. Tomorrow it’s chocolate.
Paperback or ebook? Paperback forever!
Dogs or cats? Dogs.
Go out or stay in? Both.
Summer or winter? Winter.
