Review - White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Pages: 400
Publisher: Harlequin TEEN
Release date: 25th February 2014

Blurb from Goodreads:

One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

My Review:

*I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Harlequin TEEN and Jennifer L. Armentrout*

5/5 stars

Layla is half gargoyle half demon.
Protected by the Wardens, Layla spends her time at school or out tagging demons, something that only she can do.
With a potential demon uprising on the cards, Layla finds herself torn between two guys - 1) Zayne, a Warden she's grown up with and has a crush on, but nothing can happen between them because when Layla gets close enough to kiss someone she takes their soul. 2) Roth, a demon who has no soul so kissing wouldn't be a probelm.
Layla has been brought up not to trust demons but what if the Wardens have been keeping secrets from her?

Where to start?
This book is AMAZING!

It's original, so gripping that I didn't want to put it down or for it to end and there were twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
Then there's Roth my new favourite book boyfriend...

I LOVED this book and cannot wait for the sequel!
