My week in books 18th-24th Feb

Okay so this week has been pretty rubbish as I was ill and didn't get much work done.

I surprisingly didn't buy any books. I did however finish The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen.

It took me a while to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. 4 out of 5 stars :)

Now I'm reading Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans.

Currently 71% of the way through. It's quite good. Reminds me a lot of The Matrix.

I also got streaks in my hair for the first time. They're a kind of cherry/purple colour. I'm liking them.

Watched Skyfall for the second time. It's a very good Bond film but I think I prefer Casino Royale. Also watched The Bourne Ultimatum for the first time in ages. Such a good film. Definitely my fave Bourne film.

My week in books 11th-17th Feb

So Tuesday was the official publication day of my debut novel! So exciting :) Not much else has happened this week... I finished Freak of Nature by Julia Crane which I really enjoyed (4 out of 5 stars) and I am now reading The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen. I'm currently 33% of the way through it and enjoying it. I watched Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away for the first time. Both were really good but I preferred Howl's Moving Castle. Need to read the book. Currently watching the 5th season of Gilmore Girls. Love it! Not Rory so much, but Luke and Lorelai. I'm itching to go and see Beautiful Creatures but my little sis wants to see it with me so I won't get to see it for a couple of weeks. My weekend has been rubbish as I've been ill :(
Hope you guys had a great week.

My week in books (4th-10th Feb)

So as well as my book being published I also won a competition heeeee :) The third one this year! I'm on a roll haha. So this time I won an ebook copy of A Shimmer of Angels by Lisa M. Basso.

This week I bought 4 books;

Freak of Nature by Julia Crane

Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

And then finally The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

Not sure when I'll get to read them all though as I've got so many books already. Though I did start reading Freak of Nature and I'm already over half way through. Enjoying it so far :)
I saw Wreck-It Ralph this morning and enjoyed it. Not sure I'll buy the DVD though.
Anywho, that was my week! Hope you guys had a good week too :)

Review - Angel's Heart - The Keeper by Lisa Bilbrey

Blurb:
Unaware of an age-old prophecy, secret societies, and an enemy she doesn’t know she has, Sophie Crenshaw thinks of herself as just being average. Along with her two best friends, Deva and Tabitha, Sophie sets off on what she thinks is a normal vacation. What she doesn't know is that everything she thought she knew about who she is, and what she can do, is about to change. Thrust in a world she knows nothing about, Sophie tries to find her true self, without losing her grip on her own sanity.
Henry Chang lives in world full of magic, where the stories over the legendary Angel’s Heart are spoken in whispered conversations, and midnight meetings. His job is to protect the Heart, keep it safe from anyone who wishes to hurt it or its Keeper. In a divine moment, he's tied to the Keeper’s heart forever. While trying to understand his own feelings, Henry does what he can to support Sophie, and keep her from falling apart.
With the help of Willow Crest members, who are sworn to protect her, without ever meeting her, Sophie will struggle to get control of her feeling and new found powers. Or will it be too much for her to handle? Will their growing love give Sophie the strength and courage to face the greatest challenge of her young life?

Just to warn you that I don't write long reviews and they are honest. I was given an arc-copy of the book by the author.

My review:

The novel started promisingly and I enjoyed the first chapter as it set the scene and introduced the characters well, but after that I found my concentration slipping. This was mostly due to Sophie’s constant crying (I know her life gets turned upside down but still), overly-used words (for example, groused) and the odd sentence that I had to re-read. I found the villain Whitley slightly disappointing; she’s supposed to be really evil but the only bad thing she seems to do in the book is pull people’s hearts out. I felt like Sophie defeated Whitley too easily as well. I’m glad that Sophie accepts her destiny though, and finds happiness with Henry, even if their relationship is very intense.

I give this book 2 out of 5 stars – I found it okay. It wasn’t for me but others may enjoy it.
